Calculate producing gas/oil ratio from a standard gas rate and an oil rate on the stated reporting basis.
Well-test use
GOR is a core production-test ratio, but the gas and oil reporting bases must be defined before the result is meaningful.
The gas input is converted to scf/d from SCFD, MSCFD or MMSCFD. The oil input must use the intended stock-tank or defined reference basis.
Do not enter actual gas volume at separator line pressure/temperature as though it were standard cubic feet. Standardization/compressibility calculations are outside this tool.
Interpretation
GOR compares standard gas volume with stock-tank or otherwise defined oil volume. The number is only comparable between tests when both phases use consistent reference conditions and the same reporting basis.
Worked example
1.2 MMSCFD equals 1,200,000 scf/d. Dividing by 800 STB/d gives a producing GOR of 1,500 scf/STB. This calculation assumes the gas rate has already been standardized.
Field boundary
A gas volume measured at flowing pressure and temperature requires the appropriate pressure, temperature and compressibility treatment before it is reported as standard volume. This calculator intentionally does not perform that standardization.
